Managing director, Roy Tuthill, spent his earlier career working for a large well-established company in the electronics field. Starting as an apprentice and working his way through the business to become the Chief Electronics Engineer whilst still in his 20's.

From there he became Engineering Director for a start up business in which he was also part owner. Using and implementing some of the earliest microprocessors around, this company grew to around 50 staff within 7 years. He then sold his interest in what was, by then, a successful business with worldwide sales and a reputation for innovation as well as being the market leader in its field. A 2 year sabbatical followed during which time he engaged in various projects finally becoming involved in the core business that forms R3 Technology today.

Since its beginnings, R3 has expanded into several market areas which all make use of the company's core activities and expertise. Today R3 represents a centre for design and manufacture of electrical and electronic products both for R3's own product range and as a serious sub contractor for other companies' products. Our technology products range from cable assemblies through PCB assembly and into microprocessor products with both in-house design and programming.

For many of our customers we are a true one stop shop, being able to take their ideas on board and going through design, tooling and into production - all under one roof.

R3 Technology has now evolved further into 2 separate identities. R3 Tech and R3 Racing. Both companies produce their own range of products as well as continuing to focus on the sub contract, design and build element on which the original company was founded.

This evolution necessitated the role of Business Development Manager. Steve Howlett was the ideal choice to join R3 in this position in 2003, coming from a strong engineering sales background with a focus on distributor relations. A time-served apprentice, he has worked his way up the sales and marketing ladder "Using hard work where I lacked in skill" and is now the company's Sales Director.

Today Steve looks forward to the future with R3. "We have the best products anywhere on the market for Karting and our knowledge and expertise in the electronics market gives us a distinct advantage over many of our competitors".
